Winter Cleaning

New York Maids, New York cleaning service, NY MaidsWinter cleaning is relatively simple to carry out compared with spring or fall cleanings. All the summer items has already been stored, and there is no need yet to take out summer cloths and equipment yet. Plus, if all the preparations have been done with care, there is not much to worry about in winter. It means, that what is left for us are things, which we can handle easily, with no help of maids or professionals form cleaning service companies: weekly dusting, vacuum cleaning, everyday washing-up and taking the garbage out.

There is no point in washing windows, as the weather will nullify our work fast and with ease. One major issue, though, might be mud and water brought on boots into the house form outside. We should pay much attention then to our doorstep, as if we don't, mud and water can fast 'travel' onto our carpets and floors, which will affect in much unnecessary work for ourselves.  We should also remember about frequent airing the house (provided that the weather allows us to do it), as it will help us defend against typical winter ilnesses. All in all, winter is one of the easiest seasons as for cleaning.

New York Carpet Cleaning

Removing wax from tablecloths, carpetsNew York Maids, New York cleaning service, NY Maids

Laying table for a romantic supper, we should keep in mind that, once the supper is over, we can expect wax stains to show up on the tablecloth. We can try to prevent it by i.e. covering the candles with paper, putting them on saucers, etc. But what to do when the stains appear? First and foremost, we should cool the cloth (or even freeze it). After a couple of hours, once the material has been kept in low temperature long enough (time varies depending on the material), we should crumble the wax.

Next, we should put the tablecloth (carpet) in between two sheets of paper-tissue and iron it with warm iron. The rest of the wax will remain on the paper-tissue. In case there is still something left, we can use stain removing liquids and apply some spirit afterwards. If it is colour wax we have to cope with, we should use methylated spirit instead and simply wash the cloth.
The good news is, wax stains are not really stubborn and in most cases we don't have to turn to commercial cleaning service companies or hire maids to help us out.
